FNCE 2014

Last month I had the fortunate opportunity to be a student host for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.  As a current dietetic intern, the 3 day conference was exciting, informative, and BIG–surprised it wasn’t held in Texas, kind of BIG.

The conference had over 100 educational sessions including exhibitions, demonstrations, and presentations as well as an expo with over 350 companies (and even more samples!).  One of the most exciting parts of the conference for me was seeing all of the different pathways a career in dietetics can follow and being able to meet successful dietitians in all of those subfields and specialties: sports nutritionists, celebrity chefs (YES, I had the chance to meet Ellie Krieger!), bloggers, authors, clinicians, private practice owners, educators, entrepreneurs, food communication specialists, corporate dietitians, consultants, lobbyists, researchers…the list goes on and on! I can’t wait to see where my career takes me!
